Boondi Raita is as simple as it could get, you can make it in no time, not much special effort and yogurt fans relish it dearly. It makes parties special and even if you have guests at home for lunch or dinner a simple raita goes a long way. It is a hit recipe among all age group. You can site a variety of raita's served during Indian weddings and other occasions too and boondi raita is one of them.
I love yogurt. It has been into our lunch routine since childhood daily in many forms, be it plain yogurt, chaas / buttermilk, lassi, fruit mixed with yogurt, raw vegetables grated or finely cut with yogurt to make raita or be it the all time favorite of all boondi raita.
Yogurt has cooling properties and reduces inflammation too. It helps in reducing heat stroke in the summer season, I fondly recall my mom and my grandmom making us drink chilled chaas / buttermilk before sending us out in the summer to play, till date we follow the same.

INGREDIENTS
1/4 cup masala boondi OR plain boondi
1 cup chilled yogurt
salt
paprika powder or kashmiri red chilli powder
chat masala - optional
PROCEDURE : Mix - Serve
Assemble all the ingredients.
If preparing instantly / per bowl serving. Take boondi first, add yogurt then salt and the spices and mix all well together.
Note
Pre-mixing and making it ahead of time makes the boondi soggy. I like to make the raita when ready to serve, as i love the boondi crisp. It is very quick and easy to assemble if you have all the ingredients handy.

If making a batch you can make the yogurt mix ahead time and let it chill in the refrigerator and add the boondi just before serving.
