Oven Baked Sukhi Samosa Sandwich

We all love Samosa's. Yes we do. The traingle shape makes it different, the yummy filling or the outer crisp... Well it is a mystery and it is altogether a different poll of opinions open to endless debate. We love it with chai, chutney, sauce / ketchup and also as samosa chaat.

Yes I too love Samosa's. We found these baked version of Samosa in Costco a retail chain here in USA about a year ago and took it on a trial basis. It was good and worth a try as baking was also the option. It suited our taste of Punjabi style Aloo mutter / potato pea stuffing without any added preservatives and had a homemade like taste to it.

Our next buy was when we went to The Smokey Mountains with our friends and as the place was remote and getting vegetarian food is scarce so we brought these along too with other easy to cook food as we had opted for a Kitchenette having an oven too. Nice idea right. I bet it is now a PICNIC QUINTESSENTIAL in our cool bag for the summers.  After a tired day of sightseeing, hike, and all the fun activities it is absolutely worth to have something like this handy. This was our second time and our friends liked it too.

We had baked some Samosa's one evening after a exhausting long fun day and remaining couple of days later as breakfast along with our garma garam chai admiring these mesmerizing views from our dining table chatting and relaxing as we kept that day on ease to some of our activities.

Our indoor view - The Spectacular Somkies...

Sun's up n so are we. Early morning rays - The Smokey Mountains

We all love variety in food and taste. So before we get bored of the same taste I decided to try out Samosa Sandwiches this time. We already had few samosa's baked a few days ago with our weekend afternoon tea so had to come up with something interesting.

ready to be baked

Step 2 : Till the samosa's are baking, apply butter and sprinkle mixed dry herbs on one side and lightly toast the bread slices on both sides for flavor and crisp.

 - out of the oven, let them cool

Step 3 : Assemble the toasted herbed bread slices, baked samosa and cilantro chutney and sandwich all within the bread slices and enjoy this crispy delight.

These Samosa Sandwiches are sufficient to make it a meal, grab on as a sandwich or relish just the crispy baked samosa's alone with a dip in the chutney or ketchup whichever way you like.

TIPS FOR CARRYING THIS ON PICNIC/TRAVEL

- These are good to carry for picnic's as these do not become soggy like other brands.

- Take Samosa's in frozen form if carrying them to a distant place and then freeze them as soon as you get hold of the refrigerator and take out when planning to bake them.

- You can pre bake these, let the completely cool, and store in individual paper towels to keep them from being soft and soggy in a plastic container / box to carry along on a day's car trips too.

- Same way you can prep the herb toasted bread too and wrap paper towel to each as done in case of Samosa's, it too will stay crunchy and crisp.

- For chutney , take frozen chutney along and when you reach the destination it will be at room temperature.

* If you are in a warmer climate, do prefer to carry food items in a COOL INSULATED BAG especially for carrying food items. The food stays fresh longer and unspoiled.
