Panchratna Dal Mix



PANCHRATNA DAL MIX is a mix of five different dals/lentils usually toor, moong, urad, masoor, chana dal mixed in equal quantity and cooked together. It is protein packed powerhouse for vegetarians.

I like to premix and store this panchratna dal mix to save time and ease of using this in many recipes.  I have inculcated this habit from my Mom and Grand mom, they till date pre-make and store such easy to use handy goodies for quick later use. 

We specially have a  mini kitchen store called "KOTHAR" / store room in our home back in India where my family stored all the such goodies dried pulses and pre-mixed flours and seasonal pickles in huge containers for use all the year round. You will surely be quite surprised by the variety of it. It is economical to store in bulk, saves time, handy and also if you have a big family and frequent surprise visitors you need not rush to the store, instead make something available in the home.  It is surely a " jadui pitara" / a magic box as I often call it, where you get almost everything. 

You get this mix ready-made in stores too, but mixing your own variety is more convenient and a handy option if you like to use a variety of dals/lentials in your everyday cooking. 

INGREDIENTS 
1 cup toor dal
1 cup moong dal
1 cup urad dal
1 cup chana dal
1 cup masoor dal

OR equal quantities of your choice of dals/lentils 
* ( You can customize it for the dals/lentils you like or use )

If you make Dal / lentils frequently, increase the quantity accordingly and store. 

PROCEDURE 
Mix all the lentils in equal quantities and store in an air tight container in a cool dry space.




Panchratna dal mix is ready.
