Well if you are working, busy, an economical shopper, have a mini farm at home or a mini backyard garden where you grow fresh seasonal produce then you will get all what I am saying.
Onion prices equaled Gold prices phenomenon is not a thing of the past now. The hijacking of fresh produce prices and short supply, transport strikes and such other phenomenon rarely affects you if you grow your own crop or store them wisely. I agree not all can do this, but we surely can pre-plan certain things and do the smart work.
Chilli rocking a high of $15.99 and more in USA once for a long time. I was saved not to pay this price as I had a previous frozen green chilli stored already in my freezer. I would love to share with you guys how I store and freezer green chilli. We all have freezer's and refrigerator's nowadays so this is a viable option to store and freeze fresh produce for later use. This is the same as they do on a large scale to make available fresh produce all year round.
Here is how
Wash and wipe green chilli.
Remove all the chilli heads.
In a clean dry ziploc bag fill all the green chillies and store it in the freezer section.
I love these zipper Ziploc bags, you can also use the press and seal Ziploc bags too.
Remember to pull out all the air by pressing it flat before zipping.
Freshly frozen beauty out from the freezer.
Fresh and frozen any time, any season.
NOTES
- Frozen green chilli become harder than the fresh ones due to freezing.
- No need to defrost them.
- You can use these frozen green chilli the same way as you use fresh ones -
just slice it thin, halve it, blend it to make a green chilli paste, however a recipe calls for.
