Salad to me is the crunchy goodness of raw vegetables which I grew up eating daily on my lunch plate... nothing fancy or a variety to brag about. It's a ritual everyday to have a portion of salad on our lunch plate. A typical Gujarati meal in our house has a plate full of varieties which include small portions of roti, dal, vegetable or pulses of the day, rice, kachumbar / raw marinated salad, pickle, chaas / buttermilk OR dahi / yogurt and alas jaggery or a sweet sometimes. This is what we have everyday a full Gujarati lunch meal platter.
I try different combination of various raw vegetables as everyday salad. Anything which can be eaten raw is included, onion, fresh green onions, bell peppers, cucumbers, tomato, radish, carrots, beet, kale, lettuce, mustard greens are some to name a few. Onions and tomatoes are commonly found in all households, you can pair different combinations or just one with a pinch sprinkle of basic salt and pepper or any fancy dressing you like. Chop it as the way you like and enjoy !!!
INGREDIENTS
onion

On Friday I usually make Black Chana Masala or Chole and make a homemade sweet too ( once a week in small quantity ) being my weekly Prayer day. The platter shows ghee roti, sevaiya squares, chana masala and onion cucumber salad.
HAPPY CRUNCHY MUNCHING !!!
